The battery can secrete sulphuric acid unnoticed over a long period of time or even boil over during regular driving. After some time, the rusted-through battery carrier is due for replacement. Depending on the vehicle design, the damage can also be much worse.
This neutral mat not only simply absorbs the acid, but also neutralises its corrosive effect. A welcome side effect is its vibration-damping effect.
It can be easily cut to size with scissors. The printed side of the mat must face the battery.
